GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Thursday, Gladstone High School removed a substitute teacher from the premises after students raised concerns.
Around 12:30 p.m., a few students told administrators they felt uncomfortable with a substitute teacher due to “exhibited behavior,” according to a statement released by the school. Immediately after meeting with the students, administrators and the school resource officer escorted the substitute out of the building.
“The procedures that we have in place allowed us to handle this situation quickly,” Principal Andrew Jacques wrote. “We appreciate your willingness to continually trust us with your children. We will continue to make every effort to provide them with a safe and caring learning environment.”
While Jacques says that there was never any immediate danger to students or staff members, the substitute teacher is no longer permitted to work in the Gladstone Area Public School District. The school will continue to investigate the situation.
