MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette County Habitat for Humanity held its annual “Bingo for Homes” fundraiser Wednesday Night at the Ore Dock Brewery in Marquette.
As the turnout suggests, Bingo is popular in Marquette County. For the price of admission, participants were given three bingo cards to play for a chance to win prizes donated by area merchants. Additional cards could also be purchased during the course of the evening.
All proceeds will go directly to help fund Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing safe and affordable housing, home repairs, and furniture from their Re-Store, to area families.
During the winter months, Habitat shifts to more interior work through its Home Repairs Program.
“Our Repairs Program is pretty crucial to the community, so if you are facing an emergency situation where you don’t have heat or water, those are things we can definitely help you out with, get some grant funding, replace and repair that, and secure that to get your house back in good order for you,” said Holly Michelin, Marquette County Habitat for Humanity board member.
Since 1992, Marquette County Habitat for Humanity has built 115 new homes and provided hundreds of critical home repairs for local families. Already this year, 7 new construction houses are planned for Marquette County.
