Robbins Flooring staff tours Aspen Ridge Middle School court project

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Robbins Flooring of Ishpeming is making sure they can keep the Upper Peninsula in great hands, while continuing to grow as a company.

The Aspen Ridge Middle School now houses the plant’s newest U.P. based project. The nearly 11,000-square-foot court is made up of local sugar maple and pine, and is located in the school’s new auxiliary gymnasium.

“I want to make sure people in the area know that it is important for Robbins to do this locally, and make sure we participate in the school districts,” said Robbins Plant Manager, Jeff Adriano.

On Monday, Robbins staff came by to view their finished product, as it’s not often they have the chance to stand on one of their own courts. Adriano says the local tour aims to bring a familiar appreciation to their hard work.

“Our staff basically sees the flooring go out the door, they never get a chance to see the final product,” he said. “I’ve had several employees that went to Aspen Ridge Middle School, and for them to be able to see this new gymnasium and the flooring that they had a hand in building, brought a sense of pride for them.”

At the end of 2025, Robbins solidified its long-lived small town impacts, becoming the primary provider of court floors across the entire NBA.

Next to the professional grade court, the partnership has also allowed for Robbins to donate six custom basketballs to the patriot’s varsity program.

Aspen Ridge Athletic Director Bobby Zhulkie says the school couldn’t be more excited for its new installation.

“All the coaches want to get in to practice, all the youth teams as well,” he said. “Everyone’s pumped about it, letting our students have the opportunity to get in here is great for our school and our community.”

Although the court is home to mainly gym classes and practices, its first game will be hosted on February 19.
