Wildcats win easily over small LSSU Team

MARQUETTE, Mich. — The NMU women’s #11 swimming and #5 diving teams hosted Lake Superior State for its senior day home meet at the PEIF Pool today.

Team scores and a PDF of results will be here when made available.

After senior ceremonies, the teams swam a mixed 200 medley relay. The team of Laura Stockinger, Andrew Tease, Phini Schneider, and Gabriel Fulconi finished first, followed by the team of Ian Rocheleau, Evie DeCarlo, Jef Leroux, and Vicky Burda. Evangeline Pierce, Alessandro Rosatelli, Liam Boomer, and Brooklyn Millward finished third, followed by Caleb Rice, Julia Zimpel, Sophia Moore, and Max Swiatkowski in fourth, and finished with Kenzie Stute, Ludovica Bonini, Hudson Lowery, and Zachary Billotte.

There were no competitors in the 1650 free.

Two swimmers competed in the 200 free, both being Wildcats. Annika Geyer finished at 1:56.30, and Abby Keen swam a 1:59.66.

All seven swimmers in the 50 free were Wildcats, with Joanne Arbic claiming gold at 25.02, followed closely by Emma Casas (25.05) and Ellie Kilgard (25.08). Tegan Rose (25.73), Annie Devine (26.05), Carlotta Santi (26.26), and Anna Karubas (27.37) all swam.

The entire field of the 200 IM consisted of NMU athletes, as Manuela Araujo (2:10.19) finished first, followed by Nicole Malinova (2:13.31) and Pierce (2:15.82). Zimpel (2:16.03), Blackmore (2:17.40), and Bonini (2:17.86) all competed.

Kalina Ceglinski continued to impress, starting with another gold in the 3-meter diving with a score of 247.80. Grace Daly (242.25) finished second, Josie Bossen (225.15) third, and Lillian Marx (203.25) fourth.

There were two heats of nine swimmers in the 50 fly, all of whom were Wildcats, but only one was a non-exhibition swim. Malinova posted a time of 26.96, the fastest of the group.

The 100 free featured seven NMU swimmers, with all but Evie DeCarlo swimming exhibitions. DeCarlo posted a 53.20, which also happened to be the fastest of the bunch.

The 50 back had five of the six swimmers from NMU, led by Stockinger (26.45) as the only member of the Wildcats to swim in non-exhibitions. Pierce (27.33), Schneider (28.38), Stute (28.86), and Plevak (30.18) all swam.

Three swam in the 500 free, two of whom were from the ‘Cats: Kilgard (5:24.37), and Moore (5:31.67), who swam an exhibition.

Ceglinski once again claimed gold, as her score of 268.95 in the 1-meter was the only score to count toward the team total, as the other four divers were Wildcats.

The 50 breast saw two heats of 10 swimmers, all of whom were Wildcats. Bonini led the pack at 29.58, the only non-exhibition time.

There were two heats of seven relays for the mixed 200 free relay, with six of the seven teams from NMU. The NMU ‘E’ team of LaCount, Fulconi, Khmara, and Nolles (1:20.86) claimed gold, with the NMU ‘A’ team of Nahali, Geyer, Izydorek, and Plevak finishing third at 1:37.65.
