MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Regional History Center held its annual fundraiser Thursday evening at Kaufman Auditorium. Local storytellers Jack Deo and Jim Koski came together to share a rich lineup of historical Marquette tales, dubbed Legends and Lore: Marquette Unknown.
These included the origin of Jim’s first name, derived from a relative who lived during Marquette’s era of bustling trains, and a background of Jack’s late close friend, a notable Munising photographer who captured her own side of history.
The sold-out show saw over 800 people in attendance, with all funds going directly back to the museum.
“Not only does it mean that people are interested in the history of Marquette, but they’re showing a lot of support for a local organization that’s been around now for over 100 years,” said Koski. “It’s because of events like this and the people who attend them, that the history center will hopefully be around for a while longer.”
The event marked as the duo’s ninth year hosting the tradition.
