HOUGHTON, Mich. – Aspirus Health is launching a new drug take back program throughout its various pharmacies located in the Upper Peninsula.
The healthcare organization launched its new ‘Medication Deactivation’ bag program on Tuesday, which provides residents located in the Houghton, Laurium, Ontonagon, and Ironwood areas with free bags to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications.
Much like the Michigan State Police’s “Drug Take Back Day” event, the goal of this program is to address the increasing need for safe medication disposal options in order to protect individuals, families, and communities. Proper disposal of these medications decreases the risks of accidental ingestion or overdose.
Residents can pick up their medication deactivation bags at Aspirus Health pharmacy locations in Houghton, Laurium, Ontonagon, and Ironwood.
