MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The final hours of 2025 were used in the best ways possible in downtown Marquette.
Double Trouble Entertainment began setting up the this year’s Washington Street 100 Block Party around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, putting in close to 12 hours of work into their downtown set. This included plenty of lights and lasers, a brand new stereo system, and of course the countdown ball itself. This was all done by donations from local sponsorships.
The evening began with a family-friendly ball drop at 8:00 p.m., before several thousand people made their way downtown at midnight to celebrate the start of 2026.
“People are out here dancing to stay warm,” said Double Trouble Co-owner and DJ, Bill Digneit.
Temperatures were in the single digits by 11:00 p.m. when most of the crowds began to form. These were joined by high winds, ultimately feeling like -11 degrees.
To begin the new year, Double Trouble crews tore down the set until about 4:00 a.m. Thursday, before West Washington was reopened by 6:30 a.m.
