ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Escanaba residents may have heard sirens or seen a long line of police and fire vehicles driving around Monday morning. Rather than responding to an emergency, law enforcement agencies were working on a special holiday assignment.
Escanaba Public Safety and the Delta County Sheriff’s Department turned on their sirens to transport Santa Claus through local neighborhoods. Santa was on a mission to deliver toys to kids in the Shop With a Cop program. However, he was being followed by the Grinch.
The Grinch tried to steal the children’s presents at every stop. Officers were able to apprehend the Grinch, allowing Santa Claus to safely complete his route.
Skradski Family Funeral Homes provided food, giving each Shop With a Cop family a full Christmas dinner. Santa Claus and the police were also assisted by Delta County Central Dispatch.
