MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Hundreds gathered at NMU’s Northern Center on Saturday as the Learning to Walk Together Pow Wow filled the ballroom with dance, color, and community.
Visitors moved between dancers in regalia, drum groups, and vendors offering beadwork, jewelry, and handmade art. As tribes from across the region came together, organizers say the event continues to grow in partnership and participation.
“It’s only been the last three years that the Sault Tribe has been partnering with them, and this year and last year we had KBIC join us, and this year also Bay Mills has joined us with this,” said Pow Wow Chairman, Rosemary Larson.
Attendees were also encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, helping support NMU’s Food Pantry and students facing food insecurity.
