MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Families in Marquette received an early visit from the North Pole Thursday evening. Holiday spirit filled the U.P. State Bank as families lined up for the chance to meet Santa Clause in person.
Kids spent time crafting ornaments and chowing down on festive treats while they waited for their turn on Santa’s lap. Organizers say they’ve welcomed Santa back to Marquette for several years now, and they see the event as an important way to stay connected with the area.
“It’s his fourth year coming to Marquette, he’s been in Escanaba for 16 years now,” said one U.P. State Bank employee. “The community bank getting involved with everybody, giving Santa a nice warm place to come for everyone to visit him, balance is what it’s all about.”
Santa will be making more appearances across the U.P. in the coming weeks, as the countdown to Christmas continues.
