MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Ore Dock Brewing Company is currently accepting perishable donations, in partnership with United Way of Marquette County.
Through Tuesday, December 2, the brewing company will take and hold any fresh, refrigerated, or frozen items, including meats, dairy, and eggs, before distribution to local food pantries.
The most requested items by food banks include milk, cheese, and yogurt, with high demand throughout the Upper Peninsula.
Donations can be brought directly to the tap room (114 Spring St.) and given to a bartender. Ore Dock’s Curated Events Manager, Amanda Courchaine says the first-time initiative is a special way to utilize its services and give back to the Marquette community.
“To hold on to some of these perishable items for a couple of days until they can get distributed, we’ve never done that before, so it is nice to have that option this year,” she said.
The brewery is also taking non-perishable donations in the tap room throughout the holiday season.
