House Republicans Push to Remove USVI Delegate from Intel Committee Over Texting Epstein During Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The US Virgin Islands’ Delegate, Stacey Plaskett (D- USVI), could be removed from her spot on the coveted House Intelligence Committee after new reports revealed she texted with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein during a congressional hearing.

The Washington Post reported after additional files were released by Epstein’s estate, it showed the pair were texting during a House Oversight Committee hearing that questioned Trump’s associate, Michael Cohen, in 2019. Epstein is the late financier and convicted sex offender with ties to the powerful elite. The report stated Epstein helped her with potential questions to ask during the hearing.

Epstein has ties to the USVI. He had a residence on Little Saint James. Plaskett has previously been in hot water over Epstein after reports that she was one of several politicians in the territory where Epstein donated a lot of money. Plaskett said she gave Epstein’s donations away to women’s organizations in her community after she learned about his actions during the investigations.

Plaskett took to the house floor to defend herself.

“They’ve taken a text exchange which shows no participation, no assistance, no involvement in any illegal activity, and weaponized it for political theater because that’s what this is,” said Del. Plaskett. “This has been reviewed by federal courts. Any charges victims who initially had a case against me dismissed it on their own without prejudice. You don’t want to talk about what is really happening here. Your attacks on working families, your protection of powerful predators and corporate criminals. You want to talk about texting, texting felons? How often do you text President Donald J. Trump? That’s the individual we should be concerned about.”

In the House Resolution, it would censure Plaskett for inappropriate coordination with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and launches an ethics probe into her ties to Epstein.
