KINGSFORD, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Saturday, November 15 at approximately 1:26 a.m., Kingsford Public Safety Officers located a structure fire on the second floor of 229 E. Breitung Avenue. Officers were able to evacuate the first floor units before beginning fire suppression.
One victim located inside was later pronounced deceased. At this time, the name of the victim is not being released, pending family notification.
More investigation into the cause of the fire will be assisted by the Michigan State Fire Investigator. KSPD was assisted by DSCO Dispatch, Iron Mountain Fire Department, Integrity Care Ambulance, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, WE Energies, DTE and Kingsford Public Works.
