MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – After yesterday’s elections across Marquette County, many heads have chipped in with their reactions to what passed, and what didn’t.
Voters showed up and mailed-in throughout Marquette County, making choices in candidate races for city official positions, as well as a number of school millages to benefit students and faculty.
According to County Clerk Linda Talsma, voters showed up at an expected rate for an odd-year election, and that a majority of the proposals were well met with their communities.
“We had one proposal that did not pass, but the rest did, so that was positive,” she said. “They’re always about between 20% and 25% of the population, we had just under 24% in this election for turnout.”
The county’s board of canvassers will meet on Monday to finalize the votes including those with cured signatures, and military and overseas ballots.
