NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – With the pause in snap benefits many Marquette County residents are facing food insecurity. Because of this, the Negaunee public library is giving away meals leftover from this summer’s “Gather 2 Grow” program, thanks to Feeding America West Michigan. The meals are for any child under the age of 18 and any disabled adults under the age of 26.
Each meal contains enough food for a nutritious lunch, or snack and contain protein like tuna, and kid friendly items like pizza and apple sauce.
“If people wanted to have a little picnic here at the library or while it’s still nice outside, they can do that. They can take it home, save it for maybe a weekend meal or something. So we’re back to getting food into the hands of kids,” said Library Director, Jessica Holman.
The meals are free of charge and available at the library front desk throughout November,
