MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is offering a special chamber concert this weekend.
On Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall, MSO’s Brass Quintet will play a number of pieces for its ‘Dances for Brass’ show, featuring music from the early 20th century, as well as late Renaissance pieces transcribed for brass.
NMU Music Department Head Mark Flaherty, who plays trumpet with the MSO, says the program aims to showcase the many talents of the orchestra in a unique way.
“As musicians in the symphony, you’re used to seeing us in a larger group, but it really can be fun to see musicians in a smaller setting than this, because there’s so much communication that goes on,” he said. “We’d love to see folks there, it should be a really fun evening.”
