How It Happened
After a back-and-forth opening 40 minutes of play, the Lakers broke through on a broken play. A clearance ball was played, and the goalkeeper, Thompson, came off her line to play the ball. Wilhelm made a good run and beat Thompson to the ball, dribbling around the wayward goalkeeper and sliding the ball across the line.
The Lakers doubled its lead with a tally just ten seconds before the first half came to a close. A Wildcat clearance took a deflection off the back of a Laker, and it landed on the foot of Dennison, who took a right-footed strike on the first touch, curling the ball into the upper left corner.
The Lakers got its third goal of the game off a screamer from the boot of Fromm, who worked her way into the box before firing one past Thompson.
