ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Saturday, you can get refreshed and recharged at the U.P. State Fairgrounds.
Hiawatha Wellness is hosting a Mind-Body-Spirit Fair inside the Ruth Butler Building from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vendors will offer a range of products and services like psychic medium and tarot readings, all-natural oils and soaps, and jewelry. Five special guests will be giving presentations throughout the day.
Hiawatha Wellness owner Debra Martin will be administering vibroacoustic therapy.
“It’s combining vibrations with music,” she explained. “It provides relaxation, and it’s been known to have helped with Parkinson’s, COPD, ADHD.”
Vendors say the goal is to provide people with alternative methods of feeling better and living healthier.
“There’s more than taking pills out of a bottle every day for stress, to calm you,” said Martin. “You can meditate. There’s so many things you can do that will calm you as opposed to 20 pill bottles off the shelf.”
“In today’s world, with the business and the overwhelm that we have just no matter what you do, shutting down and taking that time for ourselves is so important,” said Brenda Lasecki, a sound table practitioner and owner of UP Massage and Wellness. “The body heals when it’s at rest. We don’t sleep enough. A massage on the sound table, equivalent to many hours of rest for the little bit of time that you spend there. Take care of yourselves!”
