MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The decision on who will become the 19th president of Northern Michigan University has been made.
Dr Chris Olson, who accepted the position earlier today, comes to NMU from Indiana State University, where he serves as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Originally from North Dakota, Olsen says he’s eager to assume the president’s office and begin what he predicts will be a long and successful time as president of NMU.
“I wasn’t interested in leaving Indiana State for just any place, and this is actually the only presidency I’ve ever interviewed for, and one of the only places I’ve ever even considered, to be honest. So obviously, I haven’t moved around much in my career, and we’re looking forward to being at NMU for years to come,” said Dr. Olsen.
Olson will be on campus frequently before he officially takes office in January of next year.
