MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A U.P. medical device company has opened a new manufacturing facility in Marquette. Able Medical Devices started in 2018, quickly growing to a global level.
Inside its new facility, stations are set up to construct thousands of orthopedic devices, medical implants, and surgical instruments.
Able has worked alongside NMU and Michigan Tech students through CNC courses, providing specific training with the same equipment found in Able’s facilities. This has drastically increased staffing over the past few years.
Able hopes the new facility will bring more opportunity to the Marquette area, projecting to add about 40 jobs over the next three years.
“We’re just so happy to continue to grow the Able family, and also be a bigger contributor to the overall community,” said Martin Deloria, vice president and managing director of Able Medical. “We wanted to find something that was more in alignment with what we needed for med device, and frankly, closer to Marquette.”
The new facility is located at 2980 M-533.
