NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On September 26, a 74-year-old female cyclist was struck by a vehicle in Negaunee.
While a WZMQ reporter was told at the scene the victim received minor injuries, this is incorrect. WZMQ received a call from the victim on October 13 and she reports she remains hospitalized with serious injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery.
At approximately 9:48 a.m., the Negaunee City Police Department responded to the crash on US-41 E near the Croix Street intersection. A blue Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Teal Lake Avenue when the driver, a 30-year-old male, attempted to turn west onto US-41. The driver then struck the 74-year-old woman who was riding her bicycle in the crosswalk, heading south.
