MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Four adults in Marquette arrested on child abuse charges earlier this year are headed to circuit court next month, after waiving their preliminary hearings.
Colin Irish, Carrie Irish, Michelle Maxson, and Linda Maxson had been scheduled for those preliminary hearings in Marquette County District Court Wednesday, but will now be seen in Marquette County Circuit Court on October 10.
Back in February, WZMQ 19 News reported that deputies were dispatched to a Marquette Township residence to investigate allegations of child abuse, which were obtained from Child Protective Services. There, deputies made contact with the homeowners, 57-year-old Dr. Colin Irish and his wife, 49-year-old Carrie Irish. It is alleged that over a period of several months, the couple locked their 10-year-old special needs son in a closet for several hours a day. Other allegations include that the two forced the child to sleep wearing only underwear, refused to provide a mattress, blanket, or pillow, and only allowed the child to sleep on the closet floor.
On March 7, the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office authorized arrest warrants for 47-year-old Michelle Maxson and 80-year-old Linda Maxson, both of Marquette Township, in connection to the child abuse investigation. Michelle and Linda Maxson shared a household with Dr. Colin and Carrie Irish at the time.
All four are currently out on bond.
