GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – One individual is dead after falling into Little Bay de Noc from a jet ski on September 12.
According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, at 3:45 p.m., local law enforcement agencies were dispatched to an area of the bay near the Gladstone Harbor, where two individuals not wearing life jackets had fallen off a jet ski. Initial Michigan State Police and Gladstone Public Safety units on scene were able to respond with the assistance of a citizen and their boat. They located and rescued a female from the water and brought her back to shore.
Soon after, deputies arrived in a patrol boat and located an unresponsive male subject. He was brought to an ambulance on shore and was transferred to OSF St. Francis Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Gladstone Public Safety Department, Delta County Central Dispatch, Delta County Sheriff Dive Rescue Team, Michigan DNR Conservation Officers, and Rampart EMS.
