NEGAUNEE TWP., Mich. (WZMQ) – the Jo-Kay corral is a family farm in Negaunee Township that welcomes kids of all ages. Starting this Saturday and every Saturday in September, the farm is open to the public for some wholesome agrarian fun.
Consider it a livestock theme park with a barnyard full of friendly farm animals,
“They’re going to come to experience the farm. And there’s a lot of friendly farm animals that they can take time to pet or brush or just feed them treats,” said owner, Jodi McIhany.
For Jody McElhaney and her family, it’s way more than a petting zoo, it’s a chance to interact with animals not normally found in the city.
“It’s just a time for a family to come together and make memories. Bring your camera, no devices, except unless you want to take pictures and just make some fun memories,” said McIlhany.
The Jo-Kay Corral is also about education, from learning about the life cycles of the critters to understanding where food comes from.
“We really need to appreciate our farmers, because if it wasn’t for our farmers, we wouldn’t be eating,” said McIlhany.
So which animals garner the most attention?
“The pig. People get a really a kick out of seeing Miss Piggy wander around. She thinks she’s a dog,” joked McIlhany.
The farm offers hay rides, a snack shack a large playground and guided horseback rides in their corral.
For memories that will last a lifetime, saddle up the whole family, and head over to the Jo-Kay Corral.
