HARRIS, Mich. (WZMQ) – A critically acclaimed actor and comedian is bringing his tour to The Island Resort & Casino on Saturday, September 20.

Billy Gardell is famous for his work on sitcoms like Mike & Molly, Bob Hearts Abishola, and Young Sheldon. He first came to The Island about ten years ago, and he says he is excited to return.

“I’d taken some time off of standup, but I think once a standup, always a standup,” Gardell told WZMQ 19. “The bug bit me, so I started planning out dates. A dear friend of mine… said [The Island’s] anniversary’s coming up, and I wanted to be a part of that.”

Gardell’s new standup material covers topics like reaching 25 years of marriage, becoming an empty-nester, and rooting for younger generations. He says it will be a fun show, particularly for longtime fans.

“A lot of my crowd still watches television, so it seems to be those smaller markets that work best for me,” said Gardell. “While I battle to try to find a new crowd on the internet, I like to be able to pay service to those that have been watching me for a lot of years.”

Whether attendees know him from Mike & Molly, discovered him on Instagram, or are new to his standup, Gardell says he aims to provide an entertaining evening for all.

“I try to make everybody forget their problems and remind us what we have in common,” he said. “We need to take a break and be together and laugh together, and so if I can do a little bit of that, I’m in. And maybe we’ll win a couple bucks, who knows?”

Tickets for Gardell’s performance are available for $30 at The Island box office and at islandresortandcasino.com. For more information on Gardell, click here.
