RAPID RIVER, Mich. (WZMQ) – Police have made an arrest in the case of an arson attack at a Delta County business earlier this week.
After 12:00 a.m. on Monday, troopers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post responded to a report of a fire at the Rapid River Pub. At the time of the fire, the building was occupied by patrons. Everyone was able to evacuate safely.
Following an on-scene investigation, it was alleged that the fire had been set intentionally. 33-year-old Steven Prestridge of Rapid River was subsequently located and arrested for the arson attack.
On Tuesday, Prestridge was arraigned on one count of second-degree arson and one count of arson – preparation to burn real property. His bond was set at $150,000 with additional conditions. He is next due in court on September 18.
