ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Public Safety Department (EPSD) is looking into the cause of a structure fire at a residence on South 22nd Street.
Late Tuesday morning, a fire originated in the kitchen area of the residence and extended into the ceiling. The fire was significantly slowed thanks to the quick actions of the resident, who was able to knock down the initial flames. Upon arrival, EPSD officers were able to fully extinguish the remaining fire before it could spread through the ceiling or cause additional damage.
No injuries were reported. While the cause of the fire is under investigation, it is believed to have been accidental in nature.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch, and the City of Escanaba Electric Department.
