ISHPEMING, Mich. — Residents in Ishpeming will have the chance to meet directly with both state and local leaders during a “Coffee and Conversation” event set for Wednesday, Aug. 25.
State Sen. Ed McBroom and Ishpeming City Council member Jason Chapman will host the gathering at 11 a.m. at the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.
The event is designed to give community members an opportunity to hear updates from the state and city levels, voice concerns, ask questions, and discuss ideas with their elected officials.
“It’s important that we are accessible to our constituents,” Chapman said during a preview of the event. “So it doesn’t matter what party they’re from, I think we need to get the message out that things at the local level are not partisan, and that we should be working with anybody that will work to make our communities better.”
McBroom’s office emphasized that his staff in Lansing is available to help residents with state-level issues, while Chapman can assist with city matters in Ishpeming.
The event is free and open to the public, and both officials say they hope to see strong community participation.
