MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency (MARESA) and Northern Michigan University partnered to bring the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) program to Marquette. This training is a four-day program breaking down the importance of multisensory learning, plus tools and tips for the teachers to use to help the students.
60 teachers for the Marquette and Alger school districts gathered on NMU’s campus to learn world breakdown methods, vowel exercises, and more. This training has grown due to the science supporting the importance for teachers to teach towards all learning styles and both general education and special education students.
“This training is really preparing educators to help those students with all needs, not just students with special needs, but all general ed and special ed children,” said Britta Taylor, a Superior Hills kindergarten teacher.
The Marquette Alger school board and NMU hope to continue this training program in future years. For more details on the IMSE training program, check out the website. To stay informed on next years training program, go to the MARESA website.
