GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Wednesday, the Delta Conservation District held its annual meeting at Pioneer Trail Park.
Conservation District Board members and staff met with community members to celebrate 75 years of conservation in Delta County. Attendees heard a presentation on climate change and forestry by the MSU Forestry Innovation Center and received information on programs offered by organizations like the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
It was also an opportunity to meet the district’s new manager, Taylor Shay. For the last five years, Shay has worked in conservation in Northern Michigan, including at the Presque Isle Conservation District. Only a few days into her new role, Shay says her primary objective is to further the mission of the Delta Conservation District.
“Working more with public outreach and education, invasive species control, water quality,” she said. “Our goals are to provide these conservation programs to the community and private landowners and expand our horizons on the conservation platform.”
Attendees also cast their ballots for three open seats on the Conservation District Board during the event.
