ALGER COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Alger County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is actively investigating a missing person case involving a Munising woman who was reportedly last seen at her residence late in the evening of Friday, August 15.
ACSO deputies were notified on Sunday, August 17, at approximately 6:30 P.M. after 65-year-old Starla Goings’ family reported her missing. Since then, efforts have been ongoing to locate her and ensure her well-being.
Goings is a white female, about 5’04”, and weighing approximately 160lbs. She has short, white hair and brown eyes. There is no known clothing description for her at this time.
It is unclear whether Goings had an intended destination, how she may be traveling, or other circumstances surrounding her disappearance. After her disappearance was reported, the vehicle she was known to drive was located a short distance from her home on Peninsula Point Road in Munising Township.
On Monday, August 18, additional search efforts were conducted near the Peninsula Point Road area with assistance from partner agencies, including personnel from the Michigan State Police (MSP), the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Goings was not located during these efforts. MSP continues to assist with the ongoing investigation.
