ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Delta County school district is planning an emergency response exercise this week.
On Wednesday, August 20, Escanaba Junior/Senior High School will be closed until 12:00 p.m. while the district, in collaboration with Escanaba Public Safety, conducts an active shooter drill. This drill is intended to help the school and first responders test and refine emergency plans and procedures in a realistic scenario.
During the drill, community members will notice a significant law enforcement and emergency services presence at the Junior/Senior High School. School administrators want the public to be aware that it is part of the drill and does not represent an actual emergency.
Escanaba Area Public Schools expresses its appreciation for Escanaba Public Safety’s efforts to plan and organize the drill. The partnership helps to ensure a safe, secure environment for students and staff.
