MARQUETTE, Mi. (WZMQ) – Northern Michigan University’s Public Safety Institute held its graduation ceremony for the class of 2025. Twenty graduates completed the 16-week training program and are now graduating, all with law enforcement jobs in the Upper Peninsula.
The NMU training program has been in existence since the 1960s and has continued to grow and evolve over time. This program requires more hours of training than the state of Michigan.
“I can’t figure out why, over the years, things change. Ultimately, this group really, really wants to do a good job; they really, really wanna be good police officers, and they show it,” said Adam Maynard, NMU Public Safety Institute training director.
