MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A scheduled test of the active threat alert system was conducted on Wednesday, August 13, for the St. Francis de Sales School in Manistique. According to the Department of Public Safety, news of the alert caused some members of the public to become concerned that it was a real event.
This test was conducted under the authority of St. Francis de Sales administration and the Manistique Department of Public Safety. At no time was there a real or perceived threat to any school staff, students, or the public.
The test of the active threat alert system was done to ensure all stages of the system were operational, with the intent being to keep school employees, students, and the public safe in the event of a real threat if one ever occurs.
