MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPAWS and Kognisjon Bryggeri have joined forces once again to celebrate the life of a beloved furry friend. This collaboration highlights the bond between the community, local businesses, and animal welfare.
George, the rescue dog of the hour, has a heartwarming story. He was transferred from a high-kill shelter in Texas and after being adopted and now enjoys a happy life along the beautiful shores of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. George’s owners earned the opportunity to name a specialty brew crafted by Kognisjon Bryggeri during the ‘Cause for Paws’ event.
Inspired by George’s love for sunsets, the new cherry wheat ale was named “George’s Superior Sunset”. The beer was a hit among attendees, volunteers, and even George seemed impressed. This unique beer is exclusively available at Kognisjon Bryggeri in Marquette.
In addition to celebrating George, the event had a charitable purpose. A portion of the proceeds from every pint of “George’s Superior Sunset” sold, as well as T-shirts, went directly to benefit UPAWS. These funds will support the shelter’s mission to provide the best possible care and shelter experience for animals in need of permanent homes.
Looking ahead, the next specialty brew will be released in 2026 and will honor another special pet.
