MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Today, the Michigan State Police hosted its second annual troopers on tour, Basketball Cop event in Marquette for the first time, bringing police officers from across the region together for music, games, and food to foster community connections.
Troopers on tour is part of a statewide initiative to foster quality relationships with members of the community. the day included pick‑up basketball games, raffles, music, and free refreshments—all in the spirit of fun.
“Officers get to meet and know each other, interact, the officers with the public, get to meet each other, interact, and also that the public. The last couple of times I’ve done this, I’ve found that a few are coming out of COVID. They didn’t see their neighbors for many days, many times. This gave them the opportunity to catch up and be involved,” said Sgt. Martin Miller of the Michigan State Police.
