MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Parking pay stations in Downtown Marquette could be upgraded in the coming months.
On Thursday morning, the Marquette Downtown Development Authority (DDA) held a special meeting regarding its budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The budget was passed, and will be presented to the City Board of Commission for approval in early August.
The DDA says no significant changes were made to this years budget proposal, but plans in technology advancement were discussed.
“One of the things we put in the budget for next year, is an upgrade to the software in our parking management system,” said Marquette DDA Executive Director, Tara Laase-McKinney. “Currently, we need to upgrade the software that is in the pay stations, so hopefully those will be running a little more smoothly, a little more consistently, and it’ll make it a little easier for our maintenance workers to keep them updated.”
If approved, these upgrades will be implemented by the end of 2025.
