ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Delta County firefighter was injured while responding to a fire Tuesday night.
At 7:07 p.m., Escanaba Public Safety officers were dispatched to a home on 14th Avenue South for a two-story residential fire. When they arrived, the rear of the home was fully engulfed in flames, threatening the rest of the structure and a nearby detached garage.
Officers conducted a combination attack on the fire from inside and outside of the home, quickly getting the fire under control and keeping the rest of the structure and the garage safe. One firefighter suffered minor injuries during the response.
Responders cleared the scene at 9:30 p.m. Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Delta County Central Dispatch, the Escanaba Township Fire Department, the Ford River Fire Department, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Rampart EMS, the City of Escanaba Electric Department, the Red Cross, and DTE.
