Negaunee, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Negaunee’s “Downtown Enhancement Project” is in the running for the Michigan Municipal League’s prestigious Community Excellence Award.
The honor celebrates innovation, economic vitality, and community well-being.
Negaunee is one of four statewide finalists and will present its project at the MML annual conference in Grand Rapids this September.
If they win, they’ll receive the trophy from their sister city, houghton, last year’s winner.
The announcement will be made on september 18th.
“We already have great parts. We have a great downtown. Now we have great schools, we have great, great community and neighborhoods to live in. So we’re just going to use this opportunity, if we were able to win, and even if we don’t, we’re going to use this opportunity to brag about negaunee because negaunee is worth bragging about,” said negaunee city manager nate heffron.
Negaunee will face off against projects from the cities of hart, milford, and roscommon in the finals.
