MARQUETTE, Mich. — A Marquette summer tradition is back this weekend at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, as Art on the Rocks returns for its 65th year.
The art festival will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 100 artists from across the country, as well as local creators, will showcase a wide variety of work, including painting, woodworking and sculpture.
Art on the Rocks Director Tristan Lulma said the event’s longevity is a result of the community’s enthusiasm and support from local organizations.
“Primarily it’s the community’s embrace of it. If there wasn’t an interest among community members and people visiting the area to attend things like this it wouldn’t be viable,” Lulma said. “We have the support of the city of Marquette, Travel Marquette, and other local partners to keep things going. It’s really just become a big tradition in Marquette.”
The event is free and open to the public.
