ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Saturday, July 26, Escanaba’s Municipal Marina will be filled with music for the City’s annual Marina Fest.
A lineup of bands and artists will be performing from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the DDA’s new stage, and food vendors will be on site throughout the day. This summer, the City has updated the marina’s electrical infrastructure to create a better experience for performers, vendors, and guests.
“This coming budget year, we did incorporate two new electrical pedestals, so we have that over in the greenspace by the Yacht Club,” said Recreation Director and Harbormaster Kim Peterson. “That will allow the stage to be plugged in, as well as various food vendors.”
The City promoted this year’s event to communities in Wisconsin, so several transient boaters have booked visits to Escanaba for the weekend. Peterson says it is an opportunity to showcase the marina to both tourists and locals.
“The last couple years, the staff’s really been dedicated and getting a lot of upgrades, a lot of landscaping to the Escanaba Marina,” she said. “It’s a huge amenity for the area. I think our marina is one of the best ones around, of course, so it’s just nice to have the hard work and dedication of the employees being seen as well.”
Marina Fest attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to enjoy the view of the bay, the live music, and the food. A tent will be set up to provide shade.
