MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula Small Business Hub celebrated its first anniversary Monday at the Ore Dock Brewery in Marquette.
Over the past year, the hub has connected hundreds of small businesses across the region with the tools, funding, and support they need to thrive. To date, the small business hub has assisted 439 businesses in the central UP. Today’s reception was an opportunity for business leaders to network with others who were helped by the hub, and show their support and appreciation to all the agencies involved.
“So far, to date, we’ve worked with more than 500 businesses across seven counties, distributing more than $214,000 in direct grants, more than a dozen free workshops for local businesses, and put additional resources on the ground throughout seven counties in the form of navigators, who are actually working directly with businesses where they’re at versus asking them to come to us,” said Lake Superior Community Partnership CEO, Christopher Germain.
