HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – Visit Keweenaw is calling for all aurora chasers this fall.
The first-ever Great Lakes Aurora Dark Sky Jamboree (GLAD Jam) will take place in Houghton, from September 11th to the 14th.
The four day festival will take visitors to the Upper Peninsula’s only dark sky park, featuring star-gazing, scientific presentations, storytelling and more. Organizers expect a great weekend, while in collaboration with Michigan Aurora Chasers and Michigan Technological University.
“We have a lot of excellent programming scheduled every night,” said Jesse Wiederhold, Event Coordinator for Visit Keweenaw. “Something we’re really excited about is Michigan Tech actually has a telescope observatory a few miles off campus. Places like this, we’re going to be taking people in for private tours of a lot of places they wouldn’t be able to see any time else during the year.”
Registration is limited to around 100 people, and starts at $15. More information and a full schedule of events can be found at visitkeweenaw.com.
