MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – It was a successful week for the Cybersecurity Institute at Northern Michigan University, with its annual Cyber Defenders Summer Camp.
On Friday, the 20 high school students presented their final capstone projects, after learning the importance of cybersecurity throughout the week, with hands-on coding and programming challenges.
Before this year, the Cyber Defenders camps were in two-week periods. Camp staff says that having a shorter camp this year has allowed it to be more personal and engaging.
“It was phenomenal,” said Director of the U.P. Cybersecurity Intitute at NMU, Michael Sauer. “We do a camp every year, and since I’ve been at Northern, this was the best camp that I’ve had in terms of student participation, their knowledge, their skills, and their ability. I was really blown away by at how far they took the challenges, they really went above and beyond.”
