A Rainy Wednesday Night Farmers Market

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – This Wednesday’s Downtown Farmers Market had quite a lot of rainfall, but that didn’t stop customers from showing up.

Plenty of vendors were still available throughout the evening, including J.J. Brinski of Typewritery, who writes unique poems for people at their request. He says the rain makes business a lot more difficult when your main canvas is paper, but is always happy to write as much as he can.

“I really enjoy doing this. I’ve already had two people walk up and want poems even though it’s raining and it’s kind of dreary outside,” said Brinski. “Sometimes, it’s when people want art, we want to interact with things, and poetry is not something that you usually do in interacting with people. It’s kind of something that gets to be made right here.”

Brinski says he writes five to six times a week, and enjoys being able to share his creative writing with others.

“I want people to be able to interact with creativity, with words or with art. I think it’s a really good time in our country, and just with everything that’s going on in the world, to make sure you’re finding beauty and finding goodness in things,” he said. “It could be a little poem or a little watercolor painting or a song, it’s a very simple, small thing, but it can really help.”
