NEGAUNEE, Mich. — Families and young learners at the Negaunee Public Library got an up-close look at reptiles Thursday as the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum brought its “Cold Blooded Classifications” program to town.
The event, now in its third year at the library, gave children a chance to see, learn about, and even touch a variety of reptiles and amphibians, offering a rare opportunity to engage with creatures not commonly found in the Upper Peninsula.
“It’s so much fun,” said Jessica Holman, director of the Negaunee Public Library. “It’s a great educational program and it’s a great way for people to learn about animals in a safe environment, and a lot of them are animals that they won’t encounter here in the U.P.”
The traveling exhibit will continue its Upper Peninsula tour in the coming weeks, with its next stop scheduled at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum in Marquette at 1 p.m. Saturday.
For more information on future stops, residents can contact their local libraries or the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum.
