Harris, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Island Resort & Casino and its patrons are rallying around one of its executive chefs as he advances to the last round of a major competition.
Horizon’s Steakhouse Chef Michael Timmins is one of two chefs that has made it to the final round of Gaming & Destination Magazine‘s Casino Chef Showdown. Public votes will determine who walks away with the title of Culinary King of the Casino.
Timmins has 35 years of culinary experience, during which he perfected recipes like “Horizon’s Wellington,” the signature dish he is competing with.
“This is a refined take on a timeless classic,” Timmins said. “Tender beef filet encased in prosciutto, mushroom duxelles, caramelized onions—and wrapped in golden puff pastry.”
His competitor is Chef Allison Spicer from Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville, Mississippi. Her recipe is a blueberry galette with almond frangipane, vanilla gelato, and blueberry compote. Both recipes and the opportunity to vote are available at gaminganddestinations.com.
Final round voting runs through Saturday, July 19. Voters will be eligible to win the giveaway prize, which includes dinner for two at a premium restaurant of their choice, a one-night stay at a chosen casino, $100 to spend or save, and $100 for travel expenses.
The Island Resort & Casino will announce the winner at the completion of the showdown.
