ISHPEMING, Mi. (WZMQ) – Pam’s Pickins, a new thrift store in Ishpeming, held its Grand Opening today. This store is located on the first floor of the Gossard Building, open Wednesday through Friday, eleven a.m. to five p.m., and Saturday, eleven a.m. to three p.m.
Three years ago, Martz moved to Ishpeming, and due to being a brain aneurysm survivor, has struggled to find work. Since Martz has worked her whole life, she created her work and became her boss with it.
“Ever since high school, my girlfriend and I had always talked about going into business together, and we never did, but now I’ve got my own business, and I’ve got a little plaque on the wall that says dreams do come true,” said Pamela Martz, store owner.
This thrift store is a collection of the owner’s, Pam Martz, findings from multiple estate sales. There is everything from clothes, dishes, baskets, kitchenware, and more. Martz started this by picking items off the side of the road, cleaning them up, and selling them; now, years later has a storefront. For more information on Pam Pickins, go to its Facebook page.
