MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette park has been temporarily closed due to health concerns.
Following recent rain, elevated levels of bacteria—specifically E. coli—have been detected at the Tourist Park beach. The beach is closed to swimming until further notice. Signs have been posted at Tourist Park, and all other beaches remain open.
According to the Municipal Utilities Department, the City is collecting water samples daily and will reopen the beach when state quality standards are met. WZMQ 19 will provide an update when the beach is open.
