NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On each Thursday of Pioneer Days, the Negaunee Public Library sells thousands of books to the community at a suggested donation price.
With help from the Negaunee High School football team and local Honors Society students, all books were hauled to the Negaunee Senior Citizens Center on Thursday morning, where organizers say the first hour alone saw at least 60 people purchasing plenty of books.
All donations made on Thursday went right back to the Friends of the Negaunee Public Library.
“The Friends of the Library have been holding it here at the senior center for nearly 20 years at this point,” said Library Director, Jessica Holman. “It’s a really busy week in Negaunee, and we make the most of it.”
This years sale went from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In total, an estimated 200 people came through to make their picks.
